My advice for new university students is to keep this in mind: your primary purpose is your studies. The unnecessary distractions and frivolities you see around you are not your role model, nor is that what you came to the university for. The free time you get should definitely be used to participate in positive and productive activities, but this absolutely does not mean your focus should shift toward trivial pursuits. Regarding Non-Mahram Interactions: As far as non-Mahrams are concerned, there are two important points: Do not talk to any non-Mahram privately, be it on chat or calls. If a group member asks you something related to a project, tell them, "Brother/Sister, ask me in the group as I don't take personal messages." That's very important. You are obviously aware of the rules of Hijab. Interaction with non-Mahram guys will occur, but it must be purely business-like and need-based. There should be absolutely no room for intimate feelings or even empathetic feelings.
