DWQA QuestionsCategory: QuestionsWhat Reward Does an Infertile (Barren) Woman Receive in Islam?
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 2 weeks ago
In our religion, a woman receives great reward for becoming pregnant, giving birth, and raising children. What about a woman who is infertile (barren)? She cannot conceive but still remains patient and thankful (does sabr and shukr). Sometimes it saddens me to think — will there be no reward for such a woman?

You mentioned that barren women are not spoken of in terms of reward. However, in Islamic history, Hazrat Sarah (Prophet Ibrahim’s wife) and Prophet Zakariya’s wife were both infertile for many years. Children are a test (Aazmaish) from Allah.
A woman who remains patient for Allah’s pleasure earns immense reward for her sabr (patience) and shukr (gratitude).
Perhaps Allah wants to open another door of mercy for you — such as caring for orphaned or destitute children. There are many children without parents who need love and care. Educated, kind-hearted people often adopt and raise them as an act of social and spiritual responsibility.
Also note, sometimes depression and emotional stress can affect hormonal balance and ovarian health — so self-care and positivity are also important.
