DWQA QuestionsThe Permissibility of Bank Employment and Related Marriage Proposals
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 1 week ago
My question is whether a job in a bank is permissible (halal)—specifically, is the income earned from it halal or not? This is because my brother claims that since the banking system is based on interest (Riba), such employment is not allowed. My second question is: if a marriage proposal comes from a man who works in a bank, should that proposal be accepted or not?

You asked whether a bank job is halal or not, especially since you have received a marriage proposal from a man working in a bank. Please, do not accept this proposal. Currently, all [conventional] banks are haram and are the root of corruption. Do not use banks more than the absolute minimum necessity, as they are extremely harmful. The interest-based system is an act of war against Allah. This sin carries a high level of Allah's displeasure. Do not take a job there, nor establish a marital relationship [with someone employed there]. May Allah grant guidance and have mercy on us; stay away from banks.
