DWQA QuestionsThe Comfort of the Soul: Interpretation of Seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a Dream
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 1 week ago
My name is Afnan Zaheer. I am 26 years old. I saw a dream 5 years ago when I was unmarried. It was near muharram. I saw a room in which there is dim light and many people are sitting there in which mostly were men. I saw Prophet Muhammad SAWW from back side. I couldn't see his face. The main part of my dream was that he was crying. I was sitting on his right side. I wanted to say something to comfort him. I stood up and walked from his back side and then sat on his left side. After that I placed my right hand on his lower back, slightly rubbing my hand on his back to comfort him from crying. He was wearing white shemagh due to which I couldn't see his face. His clothes were light blue in color. I want to know what this dream means. From many years, this dream has made me to wonder that I am just a practicing muslim, how could I comfort him? How could I place my hand on his back? Please answer.

Impact of Muharram-ul-Haram: The dream occurred during the month of Muharram. It reflects the atmosphere of grief and mourning (Gham) associated with the tragedy of Karbala and the oppression faced by Hazrat Hussain (R.A) and the Ahl-e-Bait, which is deeply observed by the Shia community and respected by all Muslims.

Connection to Hadith: There are Hadiths that mention the Prophet's ﷺ intense grief regarding the future trials of his grandsons. Your dream is a manifestation of those historical and emotional narratives. The sight of the Prophet ﷺ being distressed in the dream is a reflection of that historical sorrow.

Personal Inclination: This dream highlights your religious inclination and your emotional sensitivity toward these significant Islamic events. It shows that you possess a deep interest (Shauq-o-Zauq) and a strong spiritual attachment to the history of the Prophet's ﷺ family.

No Cause for Concern: Since this dream occurred a long time ago and is essentially a reflection of your spiritual empathy during the month of mourning, there is nothing worrisome about it. It does not require a complex interpretation as it was likely a result of your environment and internal thoughts at that time.
