Request for Authentic Tafsir (Exegesis of the Quran): "Wa Alaikumussalam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. I wanted to ask if you could suggest an authentic Tafsir (Exegesis of the Quran) that you consider the best based on your experience." Request for Hadith Reference on Witr Prayer: "My second question is, you say that Witr is one Raka'ah. Could you kindly provide the reference from the Hadith or share the Hadith itself? Because when I told my friend that Witr is one Raka'ah, she refused to believe it. She says, 'We have prayed three all our lives; there are three. What Hadith have you read?' So please share that Hadith with me. She is a Sunni and says, 'According to our school of thought (or sect/group), it is three...'" Inquiry about Language Improvement Steps for Children: "And I want to ask: what steps did you take to improve your children's different languages? Masha'Allah (God has willed it), they speak English well and Arabic well too."

1. Authentic Tafseer (Interpretation) You are asking about authentic Tafseer. Let me tell you one thing: human effort is never truly authentic (in a complete sense). Tafheem-ul-Quran is very close to my heart, and Tafseer-ul-Quran written by my maternal grandfather (Nana Jan) is very effective and very popular. It is true that people get familiar with one Tafseer, but you should definitely join a group and study Ustazah Nighat Hashmi; she gives a very good interpretation of the Quran. Dr. Israr [Ahmed] used to say that if you read one Tafseer, sometimes you should read a second one as well. What happens then is that a person critically examines human errors (in interpretation). 2. Witr Prayer Your friend says that Witr are three (rakats). I'll tell you that Witr is only one (rakat); other voluntary prayers (Nawafil) are joined with it. If there are 3 Rakats, it becomes two Nawafil and one Witr. If you pray 4 Nawafil and one Witr, it will be 5 Rakats. Witr is one, and it is to make the Sunnah prayer an odd number. 3. Teaching Children Languages You asked how I taught my children languages. Yes, Masha'Allah, Alhamdulillah, their English became good because they studied in international schools, and they also spoke English at home. We cannot speak Arabic, which is why an Arabic Campaign has now started [at our home]. My husband speaks and writes Arabic very well, but he never bothered [to teach us previously]. Our home campaign is currently running. My elder and younger daughters are both studying in Arabic medium schools, and it's going very well; we are getting a lot of motivation. You should join Duo Lingo etc. Let me tell you one more thing: we have completed Round 1 of our "Arabic on the Go," and Round 2 is currently running.
