DWQA QuestionsRegarding Ritual Purity (Taharah)
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 1 week ago
In Istinja, is it necessary to wash the entire area or only the specific spot where the impurity is present? Some scholars state that the discharge of white fluid from the body is not impure and therefore does not nullify Wudu; however, a yellowish, foul-smelling substance does nullify Wudu. Please clarify. Should one change clothes affected by leucorrhoea before performing prayer?

1. Extent of Washing: It is absolutely not necessary to wash the entire body during Istinja; you only need to wash the specific area where the impurity is present.

2. White vs. Yellow Discharge: You asked if the discharge of white fluid is not impure? While it is not considered impure, you mentioned a yellowish and foul-smelling discharge that occurs during ovulation days, which is sticky, clumpy, and uncomfortable due to its heavy flow. In this case, perform Istinja and use a cloth or liner (to protect your clothing) before performing prayer.

3. Leucorrhoea and Clothing: If leucorrhoea gets onto your clothes, you can simply scrape it off or wash the affected spot; there is no need to change the entire outfit.
