DWQA QuestionsNavigating the Career Crossroads: Balancing Government Aspirations with Professional Growth
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 1 week ago
I want to ask, I have completed my bachelor's. And my family is saying to apply for a government job and prepare for competitive exams. I am doing that, but while preparing, when I am free, I also want to do a private job in some industry or company for a backup plan. But my family says that a private job is not secure, and living alone in another city is also not secure, so you should comfortably prepare for the government job. If you want to do a temporary job, then teach in some school... I am very stressed because schools only pay around 20k, and it takes a year to prepare for government jobs. So should I convince my family that a private sector job can be secure ? Please guide me on what to do.

Your parents want you to apply for a government job, but you want to pursue a private job. While you are waiting for that to happen, your parents are suggesting you work in a school or a similar place. I would also say the same: do not sit idle at home. If you stay at home, you will waste yourself and your knowledge, and you will lose your sense of purpose. By teaching in a school, the knowledge you possess will benefit both yourself and others. Even if the salary isn't what you desire, at least some income will be coming in. Regarding the government job, you are preparing for competitive exams—may Allah grant you success. However, corruption has become a major monster within government jobs, involving the judiciary, the military, and the bureaucracy. May Allah grant you a position where you don't have to face these trials (Fitnas). In some places, work is done correctly, but in others, there is deep-seated corruption. The reality is that these systems often become networks of wrongdoing. Just recently, I heard news that many departments collecting toll taxes never even deposited the money with the government. One feels fearful of becoming part of such a mechanism. Pass your tests first, and then let’s see where you are posted. Just do not waste a single second of your life. Work in a school for now, or if you find something related to your field, do that. But stay busy and stay productive. If you feel that 20k is too little, you can give it to our Asia Madni; we will do a lot of good work with it. Otherwise, you can also contribute it to our Bait-ul-Maqdas fund.
