Islamic Ruling on Divorce Pronounced During Menstruation

Allah Almighty has prescribed the method for divorce (Talaq), and going against this method makes Allah displeased. It is requested of everyone that both men and women should learn this [method], even though we pray that such a time never comes in life. The Prophets have performed marriage (Nikah) and have also given divorces. Divorce does not take place during menstruation (Haid). We find an incident during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) where a man divorced his wife while she was menstruating. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became visibly angry and said [to the husband], 'Go and take her back (i.e., revoke the divorce).'
