Assalam o Alaikum
I am a medical student, for the past 2 years i have been seeing this certain uprise to CLAP at everything, whether it is necessary or not, in lectures students just clap to make fun in class, they clap at everything funny someone says or does, also they tap on tables etc
The most disturbing thing happened today when a fire fighter came to our university and explained how to safe a life and how he saved someone, people started clapping, he stopped everyone from doing that because he said I don't need appreciation for saving life, that's my job but people kept clapping and that too looked very disrespectful
My question is ? What Islam says about Clapping and tapping tables, is it allowed or liked for appreciation of a person or for someone who even deserve a clap for something great he has done, or is Clapping inhibited or disliked in any case?

You don’t like clapping, as you mentioned in the example where a firefighter came and people started praising him by clapping.
He felt disrespected, and it became clear that clapping is not always appropriate.

Clapping usually happens in two situations:
As Appreciation – to praise someone or acknowledge an achievement.
As Bullying or Fun – to make fun of someone or create noise without respect.
