My name is Afnan Zaheer, and I am 26 years old. I had a dream five years ago, before I was married, near the time of Muharram. In the dream, I saw a room with dim lighting where many people, mostly men, were gathered. I saw the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from behind; I could not see his face. The most striking part of the dream was that he was crying.
I was sitting on his right side and felt a deep urge to comfort him. I stood up, walked behind him, and sat down on his left side. I then placed my right hand on his lower back, gently rubbing it to offer him comfort. He was wearing a white shemagh, which obscured his face, and his clothes were light blue in color.
For years, I have wondered about this dream. I am just an ordinary practicing Muslim—how could I be in a position to comfort him or even place my hand on his back? I seek an explanation for what this means.
