DWQA QuestionsDomestic Skills and Marital Success: Is Basic Cooking Enough?
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 1 week ago
If a woman is not a professional at making a variety of complex dishes and only knows how to cook simple, everyday meals—though they are flavorful—can her marriage still be successful? I am over 25 and will be getting married soon, but this is the one thing that troubles me deeply. In my surroundings, I see many women my age who are highly skilled or even professional-level cooks. I do try, but my skills in this field are just not that advanced.

If a woman knows how to cook simple meals and knows how to make them well, can her marriage be successful? You say you see excellent cooks all around you in your surroundings—but what kind of 'excellent' cooks are they, really? Most of them can't even make a perfectly round roti! Remember, baking isn't the same as cooking. Real cooking is knowing how to make a delicious Aloo Gobhi. If you can make basic, everyday dishes well, your marriage can run perfectly. I will tell you just one thing: Focus on making a perfect Roti. If the Roti is excellent, it can be enjoyed even with just a simple egg.
