DWQA QuestionsSeeking Guidance: The Practice of Concentrated Worship at Ubqari
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 2 weeks ago
There is an organization called Ubqari Dawa Khana, and they have sites where people spend the entire night worshipping during the month of Ramadan. Many people go there to seek peace and connect with Allah. Recently, my uncle visited and shared that they recited 150,000 Durood Sharif in a very serene environment, worshipping Allah with complete devotion and detachment from worldly distractions (Dunya). He has encouraged my mother to also spend time there during Ramadan or other spiritual events, claiming that the experience of worship there is exceptional. However, I feel a bit hesitant and find it somewhat strange. Please advise me: is it okay to go there?

I have observed Ubqari's medicines and their advertisements myself. As you mentioned, it does feel strange, especially since my maternal uncle is strongly recommending that my mother spend Ramadan there. He mentioned they recited Durood 150,000 times in a very peaceful manner, remaining completely detached from the world. While being detached from the world to worship is a good thing, I don't understand the necessity of reciting it exactly 150,000 times. Furthermore, I am concerned about what their actual beliefs (aqaid) are. I suspect there might be involvement with shrines (mazars) or similar practices. I will investigate this further, and you should check as well. One thing is certain: they belong to the Sufi tradition, whose beliefs are often esoteric (batini). If you read Sufi literature, InSha'Allah, it will become easier for you to understand their perspective.
