The Concept of Tawakul and Dua
You have spoken about a concept alongside the words of prayer that I would title Tawakul. If one understands the concept of Tawakul, the essence of Dua (supplication) becomes clear as well.
What Tawakul is Not
First, we must address a common misconception: Tawakul does not mean abandoning all effort, sitting idle, and simply wondering what will happen. That is not Tawakul at all.
Relinquishing Control
Tawakul means relinquishing control over the results. We must stop trying to force the outcome. Our responsibility is to put in the effort, but the results must be left to Allah, with the firm belief that whatever He decides will be the best possible decision. We should not pin our hopes on the outcome itself, but rather place our trust (Tawakul) in Allah.
The Two-Sided Approach
It is a two-fold process:
Effort: First, you work hard and put in your best struggle.
Surrender: Then, you pray to Allah, saying: "I have followed Your command (to strive); now, I do not know the outcome. You are sufficient for me, and You are the best Helper. Truly, Your decree is the best."
Trusting the Divine Plan
We must keep in mind that interfering in the Sovereignty or the wisdom of Allah’s decrees is wrong. Whatever the Lord does is for the best. Sometimes, something appears "bad" to us on the surface, but it is actually better for us and part of Allah’s grander plan—whether we like it or not in the moment.
Reflection and Gratitude
We often feel despondent when a prayer isn't answered immediately. However, when we look back at our lives, most of us realize that Allah has been incredibly Merciful. We see that our prayers were heard, and even for those that weren't answered as we wished, we eventually find ourselves feeling grateful that they weren't.
Allah the Almighty has made Mercy and Justice mandatory upon Himself for the sake of mankind
