DWQA QuestionsTrue Belief in Prayer
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 2 weeks ago
Ma'am, Does having faith in prayer mean that we believe we will receive exactly what we asked for? What is true, complete faith like? And people say that we should always be prepared for bad times, we should save, and we should have a Plan B — so, how does all this align with having faith in our prayer?"

"Will everything we ask for be granted? People say we should be prepared for the worst times. We should make dua (prayer), but also have a plan alongside it, and keep our faith strong in the dua. I understood this through an English idiom: 'Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.' Our religion also teaches the same: complete all your effort and hard work, and leave the results to Allah (God). Remember one great thing: Hazrat Umar (R.A.) used to say, 'I am only worried about whether I have made the dua or not; I am not concerned about how Allah will accept it. My job is to pray.' Therefore, keep praying. Allah has said, 'Be pleased with My will (My Raza),' but all the Quranic and Masnoon (Sunnah-based) supplications that have been taught to us are based on seeking Allah's mercy, grace, abundance, generosity, ease, and people's approval. This is because our Lord knows that we are in need of these things. Abundance of wealth and property, and health—these are all a gift from Allah. What is distant from the mercy of that Being, that He would not grant us safety (Aafiyat) in this world and success (Sa'adat) in the Hereafter?"
