DWQA QuestionsPrioritizing Umrah vs. Hajj: The Financial Decision
Dr. Asiya Staff asked 2 months ago
Ma'am If we cannot afford Umrah immediately, and we decide to save up (make savings) for some time and then go for Umrah, is this approach okay? Or is it better to save even more of that money to perform Hajj instead? Umrah costs approximately 2 lakh (200,000 PKR), and Hajj, I think, costs 10 lakh (1,000,000 PKR)."

"As you mentioned that Umrah costs two lakh and Hajj costs ten lakh. Look, Hajj is Fardh (obligatory), and Umrah is Sunnah (recommended). The money one puts aside for Umrah should be saved with the intention of Hajj, then watch how the money accumulates for Hajj. For God's sake, save money for Hajj, otherwise Hajj will be missed. This is my sincere advice. I see my own children are like this—I feel they should be saving money for Hajj. Everything else is being taken care of for the home and living expenses, but we are not fulfilling this obligation (Fardh). We are not taking it seriously. May Allah make it easy (Ameen)."
