It is said that if an unmarried girl prays Tahajjud (the late-night voluntary prayer) or performs excessive remembrance of Allah (Dhikr), jinn or unseen powers start disturbing her.

Absolutely not. If unmarried girls pray Tahajjud and perform remembrance (Dhikr), Allah bestows His mercy upon them. The worship performed in one's youth is extremely pleasing to Allah.
Among the seven categories of people to whom Allah will grant shade under His Throne, one is a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah.
